Accera Names Gary Hooper as Board Member

Broomfield, CO, December 9, 2004 - Accera Inc. announced today the appointment of Gary Hooper to its Board of Directors. Mr. Hooper has nearly twenty years of executive management level experience in the biotechnology industry and broad experience in corporate and business development.

"Gary's experience in both business and pharmaceuticals fits well with Accera's future needs," commented Dr. Steve A. Orndorff, President and CEO of Accera.  "With the completion of our Phase II clinical trials for AC-1202 next year, his knowledge and skills in licensing and partnering will be valuable in negotiating with large pharmaceutical company partners."

Gary Hooper was recently Vice President of Business Development for Bioproducts at Genencor International.  He previously served as President and CEO of Ciblex Corporation, a biotech company developing therapeutic drugs for inflammatory diseases through inhibition of cell-to-cell communication.  He has held a number of executive and senior management positions at Cygnus Therapeutic Systems, Genentech and Baxter Travenol.  Gary is on the Board of Directors for the University of Southern California, Scientific Advisory Council at the University of Utah, Board of Directors of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network, Board of Trustees for the Licensing Executives Society and executive member of the Health Care Committee, and Chairman of Silicon Valley's Technology Convergence Consortium. He received an M.B.A. degree in management from the University of Southern California.

Other members of the five person Board of Directors include Dr. Claude Nash, chairman; Dr. Robert Schier, representative of inventages Venture Capital GmbH; Ms. Charlotte Clark, representative of POSCO Bioventures, Inc.; and Dr. Steve A. Orndorff, founder, President and CEO of Accera, Inc.
